Canteen Members Ratify Historic Contract!
Jan 31, 2024

Last week, Teamsters Local 150 members working at Canteen Vending in Sacramento overwhelmingly ratified a new contract, giving them the biggest wage increases in the history of their contract. This agreement includes a $5 increase over 4 years (with $2 increase upon ratification), added protections against GPS surveillance on the drivers, added vacations, improved bidding language, newly added D.R.I.V.E. language, a new Teamsters Health Trust with improved Healthcare that now includes retirees medical, and much more.

"With a company worth over 40 billion dollars and showing a 116% improvement in revenues from 2019, there is no reason why these members should not get the best contract they've ever had." said Local 150 Secretary-Treasurer Dale Wentz.

The company offered two separate Last, Best, and Final offers that were resoundingly rejected by the members. Through the solidarity of the members, and the pressure of the contract expiration fast approaching, the company was growing concerned that a strike was certain if they did not meet the demands of the members. Mere hours before the contracts' expiration, the Company finally caved.

"Union members are fed up with companies expecting them to sell their lives in service to them, but then refusing to pay them fair wages in a time when the cost of living is skyrocketing." said Business Agents Matt Andrakowicz and Conor Tobin. "The members knew that this was their chance to make a stand. Enough is enough! The company is making billions off of members' backs! It's time the members start seeing the profit from their labors."
